Back home...

I got back in town early Monday morning. While I was supposed to be home much earlier my flight was delayed. Apparently the plane was there but the flight crew was delayed. I didn’t actually get in till around 1AM.

D.C. was fun though, I got to see a lot of different places. Overall it was a great trip. Hopefully I can get some pictures up after I get finished with my final exams which are due this week before Thursday.

Back to the grind…

Washington D.C. Trip

Ok so its been forever since I’ve actually written in my blog but I figured its about time that I take this more seriously. Recently I took a promotion with the company I work for and now I am a technical trainer. As a photographer this is great because as part of the job I will be doing travel all over the work. Outside of those job requirements I was asked earlier this week if I would come up to our HQ in McLean Virginia to shoot area photographs. They want to have photos hung up around their facility just like I did for the facility I’m based out of in Tampa.

So on Tuesday I made arrangements to fly into DC and Wednesday I was out here. I am staying until Sunday evening. So far the weather has been really bad. Lots of rain. Though today its starting to clear up but it has gotten cold. There is a possibility it will snow. Which I am hopping for since as a lifelong Floridian I have never scene snow.

Tysa Dawn Photoshoot

TysaDawn_August-09-08_125638, originally uploaded by chrisfitch.

I did a photoshoot with Tysa about a month ago and have finally gotten them all cleaned up and uploaded here. You can find this gallery under People. This was a beautiful location just south of Anna Maria Island & north of Longboat key. The photos are geotagged if your interested in the locations. Many photographers don't like sharing locations but the locations is just a little portion of a photo when it comes to model photography. These photos are my favorites thus far, it was a perfect mixture of great location, weather that would rain heavy and clear up quickly creating a great skyline and most importantly a beautiful model.

Lightroom 2.0 Released

in

Lightroom 2 (LR2) is here!!! Adobe released the second generation to there very popular Lightroom program. Though there is some issues. There have been reports over very slow performance compared to LR1.4.

It seems as if LR2 is built for Vista x64, on a quad core system because I have had a improvement in performance compared to LR1.4. Despite what others have said. On a 64bit quad system with only 2GB of DDR3 I'm running much faster compared to LR1.4. I have my catalog with over 20,000 DNG photos in it. From time to time I've noticed when browsing through all the photos in grid view it can lag from time to time but that’s just do to the large files. Launching LR2 is much faster, LR1.4 always took a few min for me and LR2 is pretty instant.

There is an issue with the edit in Photoshop option. You do have to sync the folder afterwards. In LR1.4 this wasn't an issue. If you clicked edit in photoshop in Lightroom, photoshop would launch you could edit it, save it, and the file apears in Lightroom. This doesn't happen in LR2.

Though between the 64bit support and Dual Monitor support the upgrade was worth it. The masking brush and gradient tools are nice touches but not the key features. I'm still waiting for internal HDR and Pano Stitching support.

I have yet to test if I can now load gigapixel photos into lightroom. Previously in LR1.4 there was a resolution limit. Will see if that’s the case in LR2
